Conduct exciting research in a world class university and have the opportunity to take courses and do research in many of the emerging interdisciplinary fields associated with computing and information and communications technology.
The multi-disciplinary program, Master of Science in Computer Applications (MSCA), is geared to satisfy the demand for IT practitioners in various fields. It is flexible and can be tailored to the growing needs of industry, business, and academe in the country, especially in the Southern Philippines. The program focuses on embedded and Internet-of-Things applications.
The program was introduced in 1997 in answer to the requirements outlined in the CHED Mindanao Advanced Education Program. While graduates of the program have mostly served in the academe, they were primarily empowered to organize information in the solution of problems in science, engineering, and business.
Very recent developments necessitate the adaptation of the program to exploit the opportunities available to the university and the students. MSCA thus, branches out to the following programs:

Master of Science in Information Management (MSIM
Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
Master of Computer Science (MCS)
Master of Information Technology (MIT)
Master of Information Management (MIM)
This is to give the students wide array of choices on whether to pursue a research or an application track in their program of study. This setup also gives the students greater access to the programs through fellowship grants that will be available through the choice of program.
The program is designed for the students with the possible backgrounds and goals and want to pursue Master’s degree:
1. Students with undergraduate degrees in a computing discipline who seek an advanced degree.
2. Students with undergraduate degrees in a computing discipline who need further learning in a particular specialization (e.g., software engineering, distributed computing).
3. Students who have been working in narrowly focused computing area and want acquire a more broadly-based qualification.
4. Students from non-computing discipline who want to change career paths. These are further subdivided into two subcategories, distinguished by their mathematical backgrounds:
Students from science, mathematics, or engineering
Students from business, humanities or social sciences
The Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) is a two-year graduate program that introduces students to advanced theoretical and practical aspects of information and communications technology. The program teaches concepts, techniques, and principles in information technology and further develop skills in providing IT solutions to the problems encountered by organizations and companies. Special topics like business analysis, process engineering, systems correctness, and performance are discussed.
